Summer is a wonderful time to craft with your kids.  It’s great for “boredom”, boosts their brains with creativity and then it’s just plain fun, right?! Plaid Crafts has many wonderful products that are PERFECT for s kids summer crafting project.

Plaid Crafts sent me these awesome supplies to craft with.

Our local Christian radio station is hosting an event this summer called the Make 1 Take 1 event. You make a craft and take it to the station and they in return are taking the crafts to local Ronald McDonald houses to bless the children there. With that in mind Alice and I decided to make some inspiration subway art. I have many pieces of inspirational subway art around our house, so she is very accustomed to the idea.

Now remember, some of the great paint they sent me is glow in the dark, and they sent me the GloAway Gel, too!  So, our inspirational subway art will ALSO GLOW IN THE DARK. I imagined a sweet little girl who maybe needed some words of encouragement. Then I imagined if she was up at night, maybe couldn’t sleep and she would see those words glowing and hopefully that would bring her comfort.

I used a piece of cardboard that came in this frame. I painted it with the Neon Yellow paint.  I then cut and taped together the stencils to create the words.

I used the glow in the dark paint for some of the words.  IMAG7318b

Then I let Alice get to painting.

The paint bled thru just a little bit here and there. It was easy to clean off right away with a dry paint brush.

In between stencils I had her pick colors and set up the paint tray.  I used a few stencils I already add and a couple stamps as well.

After it all dried over night I touched up here and there. I added an extra coat of the glow in the dark paint to make sure the words would glow nicely.

Once our piece was dry, we added a layer of the FABULOUS Mod Podge Extreme Glitter! Seriously, this stuff is awesome!!

You can see just how much glitter it leaves behind in the bottom left corner! IMAG7420b Now, this being a work of art by Alice, I had to have her sign it! She used a metallic paint pen and also drew one of her famous hearts next to the word hope.

And here is our finished Glow In The Dark Inspirational Subway Art!

What do y’all think? Didn’t Alice do GREAT!?!

I set up my small mantel in what I thought a sweet little girl might set up so that y’all and Alice could see what it would look like in action!

DIY Kids Craft Inspirational Subway Art

I tried and tried and tried again to get an image of the piece glowing in the dark. I am SO SAD that I can’t show y’all! It’s awesome. The words believe, hope, faith and God all glow in the dark and you can clearly see them glowing for quite some time. I hope whomever receives this piece will be blessed by it, especially at night.
